PDI Training PDI training is an important step to consider and with this decision you will be investing a lot of time and money in order to achieve a successful path towards your ADI status. Charges for PDI training are £22 per hour intensive sessions Charges for PDI training are £20 per hour standard sessions. First step is to register you details with DSA and ensure you meet the requirements to be accepted as an PDI. Once registered you can start your training immediately refer to theory test section on this website and you need the same resources available for any learner but the pass mark is higher in order for you to be successful at this stage read up Highway Code, Essential Skills and practice with Hazard perception dvd. The entire pack can be purchased on line www.dsa.gov.uk or book retailers like WHS.Test fee and booking online for theory test are available at the dsa website. Once you have successfully passed theory and hazard you can start your part 2 training. This test is at a very high standard, similar to practical test and you will need some guidance to help you pass with a structure approach this should not be a big problem but you will have to change your style of driving after many years as a driver you will have your own concept of what the standard of driver is on the road our job is to ensure you drive to DSA standard and the standard you intend to teach your pupils. A mock test will be used to measure your standard of driving to ensure you achieve success the quicker you follow the advice and action plans the more practice you put in the quicker you will move onto the last part of the course. DSA examiner is specially trained to assess your driving and if you do not drive to the standard they can easily identify a normal drive to a person who is not driving normally and is putting on a act and again bad habits will not be easily hidden. Part 3 training is a combination of your experience in part 2 and your knowledge in Part1 and this part will require additional skills learned in part 3 that are essential to develop you into becoming a professional in teaching and assessing your pupils. There are many areas to cover and once you have reached this finally stage you will have 2 options to consider and it is your decision to choose the most suitable. Option 1 Is to apply for a pink training licence which means that you can join a franchisee and the licence is valid for 6 months to give you time to gain experience. First hand experience teaching pupils. Option 2 Is to find a Grade 6 instructor who specialise in part 3 training as without these 2 options you will not be able to sit the final part 3 exam as the DSA requirement needs to ensure that you have had at least a certain number of hours training before you attempt to sit the part 3 test. Pass rates for this final test are very low and the main reason is that poor preparation and PDI think they are ready but 1 error can cost the entire test as the examiner is control of this test as he roles plays 2 types of pupils and you as an ADI have to deal and keep control of the lesson and this is where your professional training will guide you through the know structure to help you always keep control of your pupil and teach to the correct standard. DSA develops new rules and regulations in order to improve services to all parts of the driver training from learner stage to professional but all advice provided cannot be accurate on this site as subject to change again you are advise to check with DSA on any requirements for part 3 test.
